Supporting C.P. Viet Nam’s sustainable development strategy

On July 10, during a working session with the Chairman and a delegation from C.P. Group (Thailand), Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Quoc Tri said the meeting aimed to translate into concrete actions the outcomes achieved following the visit to Thailand by Viet Nam’s General Secretary and President, while further deepening practical and effective cooperation between the two countries in the fields of agriculture and environment.

Appreciating C.P. Group’s more than 30 years of commitment and operations in Viet Nam, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri acknowledged the group’s important contributions to the modernization of the livestock sector, the development of value chain linkages, and the enhancement of the sector’s competitiveness.

According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri, in the livestock sector, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment expects investors, including C.P. Group, to continue their partnership and focus on five high value-added areas.

These include: developing high-quality animal breeds; investing in enhanced biosecurity capacity and disease control; expanding deep processing to increase product value; building transparent production chains with traceability capabilities; and promoting the application of digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and precision agriculture throughout the entire production process.

In particular, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri expressed his sincere appreciation to the Chairman of C.P. Group for directly supporting and connecting Thai partners to participate in the project to reintroduce red-crowned cranes to Tràm Chim National Park.

According to the Deputy Minister, this is not only an important biodiversity conservation project, but also a vivid symbol of friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Thailand in nature conservation.

For his part, Mr. Soopakij Chearavanont, Chairman of C.P. Group, affirmed that C.P. Viet Nam’s development over the past 30 years has always been closely associated with the attention, support, and facilitation provided by the Vietnamese Government as well as the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

Sharing the company’s development direction for the coming period, the C.P. Group Chairman said that the company will continue pursuing a strategy of developing a closed-loop value chain from inputs to outputs.

At the same time, the group identifies sustainable development as a core long-term objective, focusing on reducing carbon emissions throughout the entire production chain and contributing to the advancement of green and environmentally friendly agriculture.

He expressed the desire to further expand investment and transform Viet Nam from not only a consumer market but also into a production hub serving exports to international markets.

Regarding C.P.’s intention to expand its investment, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri highly appreciated the group’s long-term investment strategy in Viet Nam, particularly its focus on developing a closed-loop value chain associated with sustainable development, the application of modern technologies, and emissions reduction.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that Viet Nam always welcomes domestic and foreign enterprises bringing advanced technologies that are suitable for practical conditions and comply with Vietnamese laws and regulations.

He also encouraged C.P. Group to continue investing in environmentally friendly technologies, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting the circular economy, and advancing sustainable agriculture.

Aligned with Viet Nam’s development strategy

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Montri Suwanposri, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of C.P. Viet Nam Livestock Joint Stock Company, affirmed that the orientations set out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment are also among the key objectives pursued by C.P. Group in its investment and development journey in Viet Nam.

Mr. Montri Suwanposri said that deep processing and exports are among C.P. Group’s investment priorities in the coming period. The poultry processing plant in Bình Phước is currently operating with modern technology, reaching a capacity of around 1 million birds per week for export markets.

Based on the project’s operational efficiency, the Chairman of C.P. Group has approved an additional investment plan of US$200 million to increase the plant’s capacity to 2 million birds per week.

In addition, the group plans to invest approximately US$300 million in building a new processing plant in Phú Thọ, with a capacity of 1 million birds per week.

In the field of pork processing, C.P. Viet Nam has put five slaughterhouses into operation nationwide and has received approval for an additional US$100 million investment to complete a clean pork slaughtering chain that meets domestic and international market standards.

In response to this information, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri expressed his pleasure that C.P. Group’s investment orientation and development plans in Viet Nam share many similarities with Viet Nam’s livestock sector development strategy, which focuses on modernization, sustainability, high technology application, and enhanced added value.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will continue coordinating with relevant ministries, sectors, localities, and agencies to create the most favourable conditions, within the framework of Vietnamese regulations, to support C.P. Group in effectively implementing its investment projects in Viet Nam.
