Nestlé Strengthens Vietnam’s Coffee Processing Capacity for Export

21/ 08/ 2026

A new packaging line at the Nestlé Tri An Factory is enhancing processing capacity, increasing the value of Vietnamese coffee, and supporting exports to 11 international markets.

Nestlé Vietnam has officially commissioned its new glass jar packaging line (Jar Line) for soluble coffee at the Nestlé Tri An Factory in Dong Nai City.

The commissioning of the new line represents not only a technological advancement in manufacturing, but also Nestlé’s continued commitment to supporting Vietnam’s socio-economic development objectives. The investment contributes to technology transfer, the development of a highly skilled workforce, and stronger linkages with Vietnam’s domestic business ecosystem.

Applying Advanced Technology to Enhance Production Capacity

The Jar Line features a high level of automation, with integrated operations ranging from raw material handling to finished product packaging. This closed-loop production model enhances productivity, ensures operational stability, and maintains consistent product quality in line with Nestlé’s global standards.

The line is designed to flexibly handle multiple NESCAFÉ GOLD and NESCAFÉ Classic products, with different packaging formats tailored to the requirements of individual markets. From its initial phase of operation, the line has achieved a capacity of more than 350,000 jars per day, significantly expanding Vietnam’s capacity for the production and packaging of soluble coffee.

The Jar Line also represents an important step in the digital transformation of the Nestlé Tri An Factory. Sensors, cameras, and real-time data management systems enable comprehensive monitoring of production processes, support faster decision-making, and improve data-driven operational efficiency.

In addition, the line is equipped with advanced quality-control technologies, including intelligent camera systems to inspect glass jars before filling, high-sensitivity metal detection systems, induction sealing technology for sealing membranes, and an industrial X-ray inspection system at the final stage of production. These technologies help ensure product quality and food safety throughout the manufacturing process.

Creating Shared Value and Strengthening the Local Business Ecosystem

Soluble coffee products packaged in glass jars through the Jar Line are currently exported to 11 international markets, with further expansion expected in the future. This achievement demonstrates Vietnam’s capacity to meet international manufacturing standards while further strengthening the role of the Nestlé Tri An Factory within Nestlé’s global coffee production and supply network.

Mr. Binu Jacob, Chairman & CEO of Nestlé Vietnam, speaks at the event.

Mr. Binu Jacob, Chairman & CEO of Nestlé Vietnam, said the project reflects the company’s commitment to advancing technology adoption, developing human resources, and creating long-term sustainable value:“The success of a project is measured not only by its production capacity, but also by the value it creates for the economy, local communities, and future generations. The Jar Line demonstrates our commitment to combining technology adoption with knowledge transfer, human resource development, and innovation. It also provides a foundation for further enhancing the value of Vietnam’s coffee sector and strengthening the country’s position in global value chains.”

He added that this direction is also consistent with the spirit of Resolution No. 10-NQ/TW, under which Vietnam is moving from a focus on attracting large volumes of foreign investment toward developing a high-quality, selective FDI ecosystem that delivers greater value and efficiency.

Alongside investments in equipment and technology, Nestlé Vietnam has placed strong emphasis on developing a highly skilled technical workforce. Prior to the commissioning of the line, Vietnamese engineers and employees participated in training programs in the United Kingdom, Spain, and Australia, while working directly with international experts throughout the installation, commissioning, and process-standardization phases. Today, the team at the Nestlé Tri An Factory is capable of independently operating and managing the line in accordance with Nestlé’s global standards.

The project also creates additional opportunities for Vietnamese businesses in areas such as packaging, raw materials, logistics, equipment maintenance, and product quality inspection. Through these linkages, Nestlé contributes to increasing the participation of Vietnamese enterprises in high-standard supply chains while supporting the competitiveness of the local industrial ecosystem.

Advancing Sustainable Growth through Shared Value

With more than 30 years of operations in Vietnam, Nestlé has remained committed to its “Creating Shared Value” philosophy, linking business growth with contributions to local communities and the sustainable development of the country.

The commissioning of the Jar Line marks another milestone in this journey. It also highlights the role that high-quality foreign direct investment can play in strengthening domestic production capacity, facilitating technology transfer, developing supply chains, and creating new momentum for sustainable local economic growth.
