Within the working schedule of Vietnamese delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh in the 45th WEF in Davos (Switzerland), Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat and leading officials of the agricultural sector attended the "Global Agenda for Food Security" session on 23rd January 2015. The session attracted more 1,000 leaders from 300 organizations and countries around the world.
Aims of the session were to focus on new sustainable development goals, commitments on hunger elimination, working towards the development of sustainable food system for meeting nutrition demands and economic opportunities of the increasing population, and ensuring a sustainable natural resources as well.
At this meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Minh confirmed Vietnam’s commitment on implementing the global food security program through “Zero Hunger Initiative”, providing technical assistance to implement the food security programs for African, Latin American, and Asian countries through the bilateral cooperation or South-South cooperation programs.
At the session, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat also mentioned the innovative and sustainable development of Vietnam’s agriculture. The Minister emphasized that This provided a good opportunity for Vietnam to share with leaders around the world priorities of Vietnam’s agriculture, the experience on the implementation of multi-stakeholder partnership platform as Public-Private Partnership (PPP); highlighted the achievements on value chain and PPP initiative known as "Grow Asia" in the region that contributed to the global food security.
